The Oklahoma City Thunder and guard Alex Caruso (30) have agreed to a four-year, $81 million contract extension.

The deal will keep Caruso in Oklahoma City until 2029. He will earn just over $18 million for the 2025 season, $19.55 million in 2026, $20.9 million in 2027, then $22.4 million in 2028.

Caruso is a 2x All-Defensive Team guard who made his league debut with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017 and has since made a name for himself across the league.

The eight-year veteran who was part of the Lakers' 2020 championship team is currently in his first season with the Thunder after spending four in Los Angeles and three in Chicago with the Bulls.

Caruso is currently tied for sixth in the league in steals per game (1.9) and 15th in total steals (36) with a 99.3 defensive rating. He is also averaging 5.7 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game this season, which are all down from last season.

While the numbers don't seem pretty, Thunder fans know exactly why he received the contract that he did.
