Juric has spent the entirety of his career in Italy to date and impressed enough in three years at Torino to be offered the Roma job earlier this season, but was dismissed after just two months following a run of poor results.
That hasn't deterred Southampton from giving him a chance though with them opting to replace Russell Martin with him after the previous manager led the club to just one win in their first 16 Premier League games of the season.
“I’m very pleased. I think it's a really big challenge but I’m very optimistic because I saw a team that can do better," said Juric.
“It's important to immediately be connected with the fans. I want an aggressive team and I think that fans of Southampton will like that.”
Martin often was criticised for playing what some felt was a naive attacking style of football doomed to fail for a squad of Southampton's quality.
Juric is keen for the side to remain aggressive but says that they need to change their mentality going forward.
I want us to be more aggressive, to do much more pressing and we have to be quick to change mentality because this is my idea of football," he stated.
